Looking around my house this past holiday season I realized that I could do with a bit more seating - who knew! Since I have a more modern traditionalist take on the decor in my home I've been thinking that the additional seating I need in two of my rooms would be more of a take on the traditional armchair/wingback chair. The introduction of this style of chair would make a great addition and bring a slight eclectic feel to the rooms which will bring visual interest and add to the already existing homeyness (that is a real word). With the revitalization of traditional decor and furnishings to give them a slightly more modern edge is a step in the right direction because after all, who really wants to use that dated 1970s chesterfield in your 21st century home. Here are some armchairs that I have selected to help inspire you on your next trek to the shops:
There are multiple options for various styles and colour pallets in your home such as the more tailored and refined look of menswear in the sleek grey plaid, the rustic appeal of the wood framed leather chair, the fun and playful in the purple velour with rose pattern cushion, the traditional tufting, and the vibrant with the multi-hued paisley and medallion fabrics.
Tips: to create a consistent/cohesive look in your home, opt for a chair in a similar colour/fabric to your existing sofa. For a vibrant feel, select a chair in a rich/fun colour/fabric. To get the eclectic vibe, go with a large pattern in a deep colour pallet; and for those modern traditionalists (like me), select a chair with a solid colour or colour within a pattern that unifies the room, such as your wall colour, a pillow, your sofa or your rug. But no matter what you do, just have fun!
Happy Shopping!
